Interdisciplinary Projects

An interdisciplinary concert directed/choreographed by Larry Keigwin and led by conductor David Robertson that features Stravinsky’s 《士兵的历史 alongside Wynton Marsalis’ 小提琴手的故事.

2023年1月, a cohort of drama students worked with 创造性的伙伴 group the Builders Association as the company developed its next cross-media performance in virtual reality (VR) spaces. The students collaborated with the company to explore the hybrid zone between live and immersive VR performance in a theatrical format. Working alongside the company as 演员, 技术人员, 内容创造者, the students shared their findings in a private work-in-process showing at the end of their weeklong intensive.

创造性的伙伴 Barbara Hannigan and Caili Quan collaborated on a workshop with 13 vocal arts, 跳舞, 打击乐器, and collaborative piano students who explored several works by Cage to create short, movement-based vignettes inspired by five of his compositions

Creative Associate Claire Chase collaborated with an ensemble of musicians, 舞者, and 演员 to workshop 锅, a 75-minute piece for flute, 生活电器, and an ensemble of community performers.

Juilliard's 2021 Convocation closed with the fourth-year 舞者 performing 关闭空间, a new 跳舞 made for the occasion by Creative Associate Caili Quan. 音乐 for the new work was Gabriella Smith’s directcompute, which was performed by a student sextet coached by Dean and Director of the 音乐 Division David Ludwig.

舞茱莉亚-which uses Ravel’s work as the springboard for a virtual collaboration with Juilliard 舞者, 乐器演奏家, 歌手, 演员, and alumni—presents a portrait of artmaking and community amid the COVID-19 crisis.

我为你歌唱 is a video collaboration of 100+ Juilliard musicians conducted by David Robertson performing Creative Associate Kurt Crowley’s expanded arrangement of Charles Ives’ Variations on ‘America.’

Creative Associate Nadia Sirota partnered with Juilliard musicians to workshop Tessellatum, a multimedia project with music by Donnacha Dennehy and video animation by Steven Mertens that culminated in two public performances and a conversation with the artists.

Creative Associate Colman Domingo led an interdisciplinary workshop with students to explore and enliven tropes, 主题, and texts from James Baldwin’s body of work.
